It
is found generally found that people have a tendency of comparing
themselves with others. Even in the school days we compare our
exam results with our friends. If we fair better that our
colleagues we feel proud about it. If we go out for a party we
ensure that we are dressed better that our counterparts.
While holding a conversation we try to flaunt our
knowledge. Even in our day to day activities we want to conduct
ourselves superior that others. We get a material pleasure in
doing all these things.
We
try hard to achieve our goal but for pleasing or outperforming
others. Even though we
are at top of the world it is difficult to maintain the
status-quo. E.g. Top sportsmen who rule their respective sports
have to one day get defeated to young blood. In the race of
fulfilling our dreams we loose ourselves to the game of
competition. The thought of others overtaking make us weak. Then
there develops jealousy seeing others progress and our
inefficiency.
We
have to come out of this trap of greed which ruins us. A guru in
our lives will make us realize that we should rise above the
material world. We are yet to realize our real potential which is
mightier than the ocean. A guru will canalize our power to attain
great heights in Bhakti (devotion) and will make us drench in love
of Bagawan Krishna.
To
be under shade of guru or leading a spiritual life does not mean
we retire from worldly life. Guru teaches us to be indifferent to
events or happenings in the world. We may attain great success but
at heart we would be calm and be always thankful to God. At times
of failure we won’t blame God but accept the fact and understand
the message behind it. We stop comparing ourselves with others.
Life would seem to be as cool as never before.
Then
we truly realize the magic of Guru in our life. Then we are bound
to say “Illai yenaku
yedheir Illai yenaku yedheir Illai yenaku yedheir” (there
are no friends or enemy for me) but these words doesn’t come out
of arrogance but out of confidence that a Guru instills in our
mind. To be disciple of Guru is to be secured like a pearl in the
shell. All our needs are fulfilled so is there any need for
friends or enemy.
The
disciple of Swami Ramanuja - Govindar says in this sloka
describing Swami Ramanuja’s says ‘His divine feet, divine
fingers are like lotus, His Scared thread (poonal) and attire
seems to be so beautiful, the way He holds the Tridandam (sacred
stick) is beautiful, His eyes filled with grace seems to be
beautiful, His hair is beautiful’ Being His beauty always
residing in my mind I can say Illai yenaku yedheir(there are no friends or enemy for me).
Guru
gives us power to win
the world so we find everyone else to be unimportant. The sense of
proud feeling comes as we know we have the invaluable possession
– Guru’s grace that others may lack.

'
short stories to regain your faith '
We
give so much of importance to others’ opinion. Our mood or state of mind is
determined by how others behave with us. If some one praises us we get easily
carried away. It is possible that the other person praised us for getting his
work done. Just few flattering words fills our world with illusionary happiness.
We have to be sculptor of our happiness and not others. It is Bagawan and Guru
who have to praise our work and action.
Like
wise any adverse comment by others punctures all our energies. Anything said
against us is indigestible. We loose all our enthusiasm and our mind works on
taking revenge. We always expect that others should understand us and never hurt
our feeling. But in this selfish world this is not possible. Any external
stimulus should not affect us. Only guru’s opinion should be given importance.
We
should start viewing our life as if we a watching a movie. We expect entry of a
villain to be followed by bad acts. In similar fashion we should view the people
with whom we deal as characters and expect only what he is bound to do. But in
real life what we do is expect a villain to do good acts (which is not
possible). And our expectation goes wrong and it becomes the root cause for our
sorrows. We should be like lotus i.e. being in water it does not get wet.
Likewise being among people we should not be affected by them.
This
is how the small boy was. His friends teased him but he was pretty much sure
about his Gopal Anna. The school bell rang it was the time for small boy to go
back to home crossing the dense forest. Earlier the small boy was afraid just by
name of the forest. But now all his fear disappeared because now he completely
relied on Gopal Anna. The small boy ran out of the school desperate to meet
Gopal Anna.
He had
reached the outskirts of the town and waiting to enter forest. He loudly called
out for Gopal Anna. As He did not turnout the small boy called again and again.
Negative thoughts started creeping in the small boy’s mind, ‘Did Gopal Anna
betray me and I am left alone now how will I cross this forest alone’. But in
next flash of second his mind consoled him, ‘Gopal Anna can never let me down,
in morning he had come so now also he will come He has promised me’.
This
is how a constant battle goes in our mind between good and evil thoughts and we
get lost in the battle. Always the good should win over the evil this is
possible only by constant chanting of Bagawan Krishna’s name. But for the
small boy his positive thoughts held an upper hand over the negative ones. And
it was due to this faith that Gopal Anna appeared in front of the boy.
Seeing
Gopal Anna the small boy felt a great sense of achievement that he can now cross
any hurdle. The small boy very bodly asked Him “Why did you make me wait so
long?”
He
replied, “I had come the moment you called me but I was hiding behind the tree
and watching you.”
The
small boy said “you really tensed me”.
Gopal
Anna answered “I play only with the person whom I love.”
Talking
so pleasantly they both started walking through the woods. The small boy
excitingly explained every small thing that happened to him in the school that
day. Gopal Anna was attentively listening to him. Even before their conversation
was over they crossed the forest. Filled with grief the small boy told,
“Tomorrow again you accompany me and I would tell you the left out things.”
The small boy took an assurance from Gopal Anna that even tomorrow He would
come.
The
small boy very happily reached the home. His mother was very happy to see him
back from the school. She curiously asked, “How did you cross the forest,
weren’t you afraid?” To that small boy replied, “Gopal Anna was with me
and He will be coming tomorrow also so you need not accompany me any more.”
Hearing it his mother did not take it seriously and thought he was bluffing.
Wait
up to next month to see how Gopal Anna proves that small boy was not bluffing.
