                                   Kanninun Siru Thaambhu(7)

Meaning
" The illustrious and merciful son of Porkaariyaar, Nammalwar has extinguished
by his graceful glance all my sins committed by me from beginning less time. I
will. Therefore, gratefully publicize his mercy to all those who live in all the
eight directions"

There have been numerous instances in which a Sathguru has showered his invaluable grace on a sishyaa and brought a tremendous change in their life. When a Sathguru takes charge of one's life, he is entirely committed for the welfare of the sishyaa. He extinguishes all sins committed in the prior births and makes the soul eligible to enjoy the Supreme Lord.

Only the sishyaa, himself/herself can experience the depth of the mercy of a Sathguru. Words really fall short in explaining the grace of a Sathguru. Once there was a prostitute in a village. She was very proud of her beauty and of the fact that the villagers were attracted to her. She used to lead her life in a materialist and continued to commit sins without knowing its repercussion.

In the same village resided a Sathguru, engrossed in his own world of devotion and happiness. Sathguru was aware of the prostitute in the village. The Sathguru was determined to divert the prostitute into path of the devotion and the Supreme happiness.

In one of the circumstances the Sathguru, came in contact with the prostitute. He took this opportunity to explain the value life and how it should be spent in the service of Bagawaan Krishna. He convinced her that the love and care shown by the human being are materialist and conditional one. Only Bagwaan Krishna can show the real care. Because Bagwaan Krishna does not differentiate us based on our merits. He sees the soul within us which is pure, but is temporarily shadowed by sins and our prarabdha karma.

Within no time the prostitute was able to understand, what the Sathguru is trying to convey. She understood the sins committed and how wastefully she had spent her life till now. This is the power of Sathguru, with minimum words they are able to convey the right message in right way with a right impact.

Once she realized her mistakes, she asked for forgiveness from the Sathguru. The Sathguru knowing the thirst of the soul granted her Namadeesha and advised her on the Bhakti path she should follow to attain the ever adorable Bagwaan Sri Krishna. She followed the instructions of the Sathguru religiously, and went ahead to became a gopi of Bagwaan Sri Krishna.

Now that is the power of Sathguru. He cleanses the sins committed by us and leads us on the right path towards the Supreme One. And if we ask a sisyaa he will always be thankful and grateful to his Sathguru. Same way in the above verse Madhurakavi Azhwaal acknowledges, the mercy of his Sathguru Nammalwar.

Short stories to regain your faith

Thirikoolur Pennpillai tries to explain to Swami Ramanujar her part of reason for leaving the sacred place Thirikoolur. Last month we saw that she had given the example of Sri Andal. Now she continues with Azhlwaars, she says "Enbiraan endreno Battarpirane polle" (Did I even prove that He (Lord Vishnu) is the Supreme One)

Periazhwaar was one of the prominet of 12 Azhwaar, just because of the fact that, he was the father of the Invaluable Jewel called Sri Andal. Periazhwaar was know for his, Vatsalya (love of a mother towards her child) Bhakti. For him Bagwaan Sri Krishna was none other than his own child. Even though Periazhwaar was a Brahmin, he never went to learn vedhas and mantra in a formal way. He used to adore Bagwaan Sri Krishna, in his own way. He make flower garlands for Lord Badrasai of Srivelliputtur. His livelihood was depended on the offerings given in the temple. He had no regrets, instead was very much grateful to being blessed with such a life closely connect to the Lord.

Once a king of the near by territory had kept a competition of proving the Supreme one. He had designed the award prize of the competition in such a manner that, the prize would itself fall in the hands of the person correctly proving who the Ultimate Supreme Lord is. Hearing about such competitions scholars and pundits from all over came to participate in it.

Periazhwaar, was unaware of such competition being engrossed in own world of happiness. Lord Vishnu cam ein the dreams of Periazhwaar and said, "Tomorrow you go and win the prize of the competition by proving me". Periazhwaar  was not able to believe himself. To win the competition was not an easy task as one has to over shine the brightest of all scholars. Periazhwaar  being not formally trained in Vedhas and Sanskrit, so  he was not aware how he was going to complete the task given by Bagwaan Vishu, but was fully confident that Bagwaan will guide him.

Next day Periazhwaar went to competition and easily won by convincingly proving that Supreme one is none other that Bagwaan Vishnu. Every one were amused as how the poor illiterate Brahmin had won the competition when many other intelligent scholars failed to do so. This was the result of the true devotion and unconditional faith which Periazhwaar had.

Referring this incidence Thirikoolur Pennpillai , says has she ever proven to any one that Bagawaan Vishnu is the Ultimate One as Periazhwaar did. So there was no point is staying back in Thirikoolur. Hearing each sentence of Thirikoolur Pennpillai, even Swami Ramanujar got amused  to how keenly Thirikoolur Pennpillai has paid attention to even smallest detail in the Puranas and is dissatisfied of not doing anything of that sort.

To know about another incidence from the view point of Thirikoolur Pennpillai wait till next week.

The power of divine grace

Radhekrishna,

Pranams to Guruji Amma and Guruji,

It is almost five years since Krishnavedham had its first issue published. It goes without saying that only due to Guruji and Guruji Amma's Krupai it has come so long well. This divine month which host the birthday of Guruji Amma and Guruji. We at Krishnavedham team want take this occasion to thank Guruji and Guruji Amma, for all grace they have showered upon us. Even though the the articles are written by the sishyaa of Guruji, the message conveyed is directly from the extracts of Guruji's Sathsang.

Every month its Guruji who guides from inside as to what divine story to be published and the way it should be. It is a real thrill how articles shape up for each issue. Krishanvedham serves as gateway to express our gratitude towards Guruji and Guruji Amma and spread their teachings & philosophy. It gives an immense pleasure to pen gist of Sathsang we hear. We are surely not competent to reproduce the exact magic which our Guruji creates in Sathsang, however we do attempt to bring out the gist in our articles. With Guruji's grace we promise to continue to deliver Krishanvedham every month.
